Resurrection New Athos Monastery

The Resurrection New Athos Monastery is a men's house of the Lviv eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Lviv^{1, 2}. The house was created by the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by a decision of 12 May 2021, taken at the Synod's first session of that year; on the same day the Synod created two more men's monasteries, in the Mohyliv-Podilskyi and the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna eparchies¹.

The annual report of the Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for 2021 lists the monastery among five men's monastic houses created in the Church during the reporting period, and gives with it journal No. 9 of 12 May 2021³.

The community was active under this name before the Synod's act: in November 2020 a youth meeting on the theological aspects of marriage was held at the monastery with a priest of the Lviv eparchy⁴.

From 12 May 2021, with the blessing of Metropolitan Filaret of Lviv and Halych, the eparchial departments for family affairs and for youth affairs began at the monastery a spiritual and educational project called "Family Days at the Monastery"². The announced programme consisted of eight three-day sessions set out from May to December of that year, each of them with individual counselling on family questions, a moleben for the family, a lecture series called "Family Happiness" and a moleben for the gift of children to families².

At the end of December 2021 a Taize meeting was held in Lviv, moved there from Turin because of quarantine restrictions; it was run jointly by the parish of Saint John Paul II, the youth affairs commission of the Lviv Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and the Lviv eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church⁵. Under the announced programme the house joined the meeting with a workshop on seeking God in prayer in the Eastern and Western traditions, which was to be led together with the Benedictines on 31 December⁵.
