Holy Trinity Desert Monastery

Holy Trinity Desert Monastery stands in the village of Khoroshe in the Dnipropetrovsk region, in Petropavlivsk district. It was originally called Holy Trinity Samara Monastery, after its location on the bank of the Samara River².

The monastery was founded in 1885 on an estate donated by the landowner Rafail Verbovsky². A house church dedicated to St Nicholas of Myra was arranged in the stone residential building at that time, and at the beginning of the twentieth century construction began on a church of the Holy Trinity².

During the Soviet period the monastery was destroyed². By Journal No. 33 of the session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of 14 June 2011 - on the report of the ruling bishop of the Dnipropetrovsk diocese, Metropolitan Ireney of Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlohrad - the Synod blessed the opening of Holy Trinity Desert Monastery in the village of Khoroshe, Petropavlivsk district, Dnipropetrovsk region^{1, 2}.

In 2006, in the village of Vodyane in the same Petropavlivsk district, on a specially purchased private homestead, the Annunciation skete of the monastery was founded⁴.

Today the monastery keeps two patronal feasts, of the Holy Trinity and of St Nicholas of Myra³.
