Courts of both instances annul the Brovary council’s decisions on the land and property of the Kniazhychi monastery
21 May 2026 On 29 August 2025 the Commercial Court of the Kyiv Region declared unlawful the decisions of the Brovary city council seizing the land of the Kniazhychi monastery and leasing its buildings to outside bodies, and on 21 May 2026 the appellate instance upheld that judgment.
Amnesty International’s annual report records the steps taken to disband the UOC

The sisters of the Krupytsky convent in the Chernihiv region leave their cells
28 Jan 2026 The agreement on the use of the premises of the Baturyn Krupytsky convent expired on 26 January 2026, and on 28 January the sisters left their cells; the reserve and the convent’s counsel describe what happened differently.
The Pochaev Lavra publishes its own account of the search of 8 October
8 Oct 2025 On 8 October 2025 a search was carried out at the Pochaev Lavra by an investigator of the district police together with officers of the SBU; a week later the monastery published its own account of that day, and we found no other version of it.
The Svyatogirsk Lavra damaged twice by shelling, in August and September 2025
16 Sep 2025 On the night of 15 August 2025, during shelling of Sviatohirsk, the glass and the film standing in its place were blown out almost throughout the monastery, and on 16 September the police of the Donetsk region reported a strike on the ninth building of the Lavra: windows and doors blown out and the façade damaged, with no one inside hurt.
Earthworks in Pereiaslav disturb the ancient burials of the brethren of the Ascension monastery
28 Aug 2025 On 27 and 28 August 2025 municipal services carried out earthworks on the grounds of the Ascension monastery in Pereiaslav; ancient burials of the brethren were disturbed, and among the finds researchers of the national reserve recognised the obelisk of Archimandrite Hennadiy (1857—1905), a superior of the house.
The Lavra’s lawyers ask the ministry and the reserve on what legal basis the relics were handled
21 Aug 2025 On 21 August 2025 the lawyers of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra filed requests with the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications and with the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, asking on what legal basis the relics of the venerable fathers were handled in the manner which, they say, photographs circulating online show.
Court rejects the reserve’s claim to evict the community of the Yelets convent in Chernihiv

15 Jul 2025 On 15 July 2025 Archimandrite Petro (Kryvytskyi), a member of the community of the monastery of the icon of the Mother of God “She Who is Quick to Hear” at Babai in the Kharkiv region, was killed by a hostile drone strike.
Shelling at Ternuvate: the convent and the church damaged, and the church’s regent killed
1 Jun 2025 On 1 June 2025 shelling in the Zaporizhzhia region damaged St. John the Theologian’s Convent and the church of the icon of the Mother of God “The Increaser of Grain” at Ternuvate; the regent of that church, Olha, died of the wounds she received.
The Ministry of Culture creates a commission to inspect the relics in the Lavra caves and classifies its work
5 Mar 2025 By order No. 214 of 5 March 2025 the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications created a commission and instructed it, by 30 May, to establish whether the remains of the saints are present in the tombs of the Near and Far Caves and to determine their historical and scientific value; information about the commission’s work was classified by the ministry as restricted.
The superior of the Svyatogirsk Lavra: custody extended, the hearings closed to broadcast
25 Feb 2025 On 30 January 2025 the Sloviansk City District Court of the Donetsk Region extended by 60 days, to 30 March, the custody of Metropolitan Arseniy, superior of the Svyatogirsk Lavra, and on 18 February it refused the defence's request that the hearings be broadcast online.
Pochaiv Lavra refused a state inventory commission access to its bell tower and archbishop's house
20 Jan 2025 On 17 January 2025 the Pochaev Holy Dormition Lavra, in the Ternopil region, refused access to its bell tower and archbishop's house to an inventory commission set up by the Kremenets-Pochaiv State Historical and Architectural Reserve on the instruction of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications. The brethren of the house hold that an inventory of movable church property is unlawful.
Three nuns received the great schema at the Protection convent in Hoshcha
17 Dec 2024 On 17 December 2024 Archbishop Pymen of Rivne and Ostroh tonsured three nuns of the Protection convent in Hoshcha, Rivne region, into the great schema, and two novices of the same house into the rassophore, the press service of the Rivne eparchy reported.
