The Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported that on 19 August 2026, the feast of the Transfiguration, a tonsure into the mantle and two further tonsures were performed at the convent of the Comfort and Consolation icon of the Mother of God in the village of Velyka Vilshanka. The convent published its own account the following day.
The house is the Comfort and Consolation Icon of the Mother of God Convent in the Vasylkiv district of the Kyiv region.
The rites were performed by the convent's spiritual father and builder, Archbishop Iona (Cherepanov) of Obukhiv, a vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis. Sister Ilaria (Lozovska) was tonsured into the mantle.
The convent says that by the Vilshanka tradition the veil of St Philotheos (Zervakos), which is kept in the monastery, is placed on the sister being tonsured into the mantle, and that by tradition the name is not changed.
Two more sisters were tonsured and received new names: novice Daria Liaskovets became Yevseviia, in honour of St Eusebia (Xenia) of Rome, and novice Nataliia Nazimova became Paisiia, in honour of St Paisios the Athonite. According to the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, both were tonsured into the rasophore. After the rites Archbishop Iona and the sisters of the convent congratulated the newly tonsured.
