Starosilye Holy Trinity Convent

The Holy Trinity convent at Starosillia stands in the forest near that village in Manevychi district, in Volyn - in the emptied military settlement of a disbanded unit, which the Volyn eparchy bought for the purpose^{1, 4}. By Journal No. 56 of 22 November 2006 the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church gave its blessing for the convent to open². It is the second women's monastery of the Volyn eparchy¹.

The first sisters - four of them, who had begun their monastic life at the Meeting of the Lord monastery at Mykhnivka, in Kamin-Kashyrskyi district - settled into half-ruined buildings on 1 March 2006^{1, 3}. On 27 May of that year the site was consecrated and the foundation stone of the church of St Basil the Great was laid, and on 25 November its altar was consecrated¹. The convent was formally opened on 29 May 2007¹.

By 2009 a cell block and a refectory had been fitted out⁴. The convent's venerated holy object is a copy of the Iviron icon of the Mother of God, made on Mount Athos and given to the house in 2006 by Metropolitan Nifont of Lutsk and Volyn⁵. On 1 June 2017 Bishop Nafanail consecrated a newly built church here, dedicated to the Iviron icon^{6, 1}.

From 2007 a building for a children's summer health camp was under construction at the convent; the first sessions were held in 2009-2010, and in 2012 the camp took in children with disabilities and children being treated for cancer⁴. The camp, named Stezhyna dobrA, has run since 2009: children aged 8 to 14 are received in four separate sessions of 100 children each³. As of 1 January 2020 there were 12 sisters living in the convent¹. The convent's patronal feasts are the Day of the Holy Trinity and the two commemorations of St Basil the Great, 1 (14) January and 30 January (12 February)⁷.
