Protection of the Mother of God Monastery

The Protection of the Mother of God Monastery stands in the village of Velyki Tseptsevychi in the Rivne region. The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church opened the house on 23 April 2002, by journal No. 10 of its session, on the basis of the Holy Protection parish of the same village: the parish transferred all its property to the newly formed monastery¹.

The monastery began at the stone parish church of the Protection of the Mother of God. As of 2003 the house had a building for the brethren, and as of 2008 it was building a new fraternal block².

The decade that followed left a dated list of works: in 2014 the ground around the monastery church was paved and a new brick wall was built, in 2015 the church roof was re-covered and new domes were installed, in 2016 a chapel in honour of the Protection of the Mother of God was built on the grounds, and in 2017 the roof of the residential building was re-covered¹. On 18 August 2019 the ruling bishop consecrated the monastery church after its reconstruction³.

The monastery church holds icons with relics of Saint Ignatius, Bishop of the Caucasus, of Saint Amphilochius, hegumen of Pochaiv, and of Saint Alexis of Carpathia¹.

On 16 August 2022 the monastery marked the twentieth anniversary of its foundation with a hierarchical Liturgy⁴. On 9 December 2022 a Liturgy for the departed was served in the monastery church on the fortieth day after the death of a brother of the house, Archimandrite Nectarius⁵. In August 2024 the parishioners of the house and pilgrims from other villages of the district prayed at a hierarchical service there⁶.
