St. Barbara the Great Martyr's male skete

The male skete of the Great Martyr Barbara stands in the village of Kapitolovka, in the Izyum district of the Kharkiv region. It is a canonical division of the Pisky Icon of the Mother of God Monastery in the town of Izyum³. The parish community here was formed on 18 November 1991⁴.

From 2016 to 2021 the eparchy consistently called this church a parish church in honour of the Great Martyr Barbara^{1, 2, 5, 6, 7}; only in a report of December 2024 did it first appear as a skete of the Pisky Monastery³.

On 17 December of 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2024 a solemn Divine Liturgy was celebrated here on the feast day of the Great Martyr Barbara^{1, 2, 3, 5}.

On 23 February 2017 the church hosted a gathering of the clergy of the whole Izyum deanery⁶.

On 4 May 2021, on the Tuesday of Bright Week, the Divine Liturgy here was celebrated personally by the ruling bishop, Metropolitan Yelysei of Izyum and Kupiansk, who on the same occasion, with the blessing of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, awarded the rector of the church the right to wear a second cross with ornamentation⁷.
