St. Alexis the Man of God's Monastery

The men's monastery in honour of Venerable Alexis, Man of God, stands in the village of Pleskachivka, in the Cherkasy eparchy¹.

On 10 February 2011 the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and all Ukraine, having heard the report of Metropolitan Sofroniy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, resolved to bless the opening of this monastery^{1, 2}.

According to the historian Lavrentiy Pokhilevich, who wrote about this locality in 1864, an Orthodox monastery in honour of the Holy Prophet Elijah had once stood here in ancient times, on a hill that by his time had already been settled by peasants; they pointed to the place where the altar of the monastery church had stood. When and by whom this monastery was built and destroyed, no tradition had been preserved².
