St. Elijah's Monastery

The house began as a monastic community: by a decree of the ruling bishop of the Vinnytsia eparchy of 8 April 2021 the creation of the Elijah monastic community was blessed¹. On 24 April 2021 the bishop visited the building site in the Ahronomichnyi microdistrict of Vinnytsia, saw how work on the church of the Prophet Elijah was going and looked over the surrounding grounds¹.

On 23 May 2023 the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in response to the reports of the hierarchs, formed a men's monastery in honour of the Prophet Elijah of God in the city of Vinnytsia². At the end of June that year the eparchy still wrote of the house as one under construction¹, and on 1 December 2023 the ruling bishop visited the newly created monastery and looked over the brotherhood building, which was still going up³.

On 26 May 2024, the fourth Sunday after Pascha, the bishop celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the monastery and consecrated the crosses for the domes; after the liturgy a procession went round the church⁴. On 30 July 2024 the crosses were set on the church's domes⁵.

The house keeps two patronal days. The first is 2 August, the day of the Prophet Elijah of God⁵. The second is 29 November, the day of the Apostle and Evangelist Matthew and of the Hieromartyr Innokentii (Tykhonov), Archbishop of Vinnytsia: the monastery's lower church is dedicated to him, and it was there that on 29 November 2024 a hierarchical liturgy was served for the patronal feast⁶. On 29 November 2025, after the liturgy, a rite of glorification was performed in the house before the icon of the Hieromartyr Innokentii of Vinnytsia⁷.

As of November 2024 the monastery's church and its brotherhood building both still needed finishing⁶. On Bright Monday, 13 April 2026, the Divine Liturgy was served in the house and followed by a festal procession round the church⁸.
