Iberian Icon of the Mother of God Convent

The convent in honour of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God stands in the village of Holuby, in the Duben district of the Rivne region, and belongs to the Rivne eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church¹.

The house grew out of a monastic community. By the monastery's own account, the community in honour of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God was organised in 2005 by the schema-abbess Kheruvyma (Krasnova)².

Since then two residential blocks have been built on the community's grounds, and in one of them a lower church of Saints Iov and Amphilochius of Pochaiv was arranged; as of 2010 the upper church was still being completed².

The house obtained official status in 2010². The opening of the convent in honour of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Holuby, Duben district, Rivne region, was blessed by the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at its session of 23 December 2010, by journal No. 64; the report on the opening was submitted by Archbishop Varfolomiy of Rivne and Ostroh¹.

On 20 December 2022 Archbishop Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh consecrated two churches at the house: the main one in honour of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God, and a house church in the name of Saint Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky)^{3, 4}. According to the eparchy, as of December 2022 six nuns kept their obedience at the house^{3, 4}.

The monastery at Holuby became one of the stops of the Rivne eparchy's pilgrimage journeys: parish groups visited the house in 2023, 2024 and 2026, closing with it their journeys to the Pochaiv Lavra^{5, 6, 7}. On one such journey, in July 2026, the pupils of a Sunday school venerated the shrines of the house and tried their hand as bell-ringers⁷.
