History:

Beheading of St. John's Monastery stands in the village of Zrub-Komarivskyi, Storozhynets district, Chernivtsi region, as part of the Chernivtsi and Bukovyna eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

On 12 May 2021, at the first session of that year, the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church resolved to establish the monastery in the village of Zrub-Komarivskyi1, 2, 3. By the same decision the Synod established two more men's monasteries - in honour of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord (Dolyna Khrestiv) in the Mohyliv-Podilskyi eparchy, and the Resurrection New Athos Monastery in the Lviv eparchy2, 3. The act is recorded as journal no. 8 of the Synod's session of 12 May 20214.

On 1 August 2021 the formal opening of the newly founded monastery took place: the Divine Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna, concelebrating with Bishop Veniamin of Khotyn, Bishop Marko of Borodianka and guest clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church1. Bishop Marko presented the community with a memorial icon of the Mother of God of Pochaiv from His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine1. That same day Metropolitan Meletiy ordained deacon Oleksandr Holianovskyi to the priesthood, and Bishop Marko ordained monk Anfim to the diaconate as a hierodeacon1.
