"Life-Bearing Well" Icon of the Mother of God Monastery

The men's monastery dedicated to the icon of the Mother of God "Life-Bearing Well" stands in the Fedoryna tract by the village of Masevychi, Rokytne district, Rivne region, and belongs to the Sarny eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church¹. The house was founded on the site of a healing spring¹.

On the report of the bishop of Sarny and Polissia, the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, by its decision of 28 December 1999, journal No. 31, opened this monastery¹. The Sarny eparchy itself was formed that same year, on 30 March, when seven districts, Rokytne among them, were separated from the Rivne eparchy, with the town of Sarny chosen as its seat². By the eparchy's own account, the Fedoryna house became the first of three new men's monasteries founded in the newly created eparchy².

The monastery's founder was archimandrite Feofan (Fedyukevych)^{1, 6}; he died on the night of 26 September 2021, in his 67th year of life, and was buried in the house he had founded³. Archimandrite Avraamii (Kostiuk) is also named as one of the first founders of the men's community at the spring: he served as the monastery's superior and died on 16 January 2020, in his 80th year of life, and was buried in the monastery's own cemetery⁴.

Over its existence the monastery built a wooden church over the spring itself, dedicated to the icon "Life-Bearing Well", and another church, in honour of the Venerable Anthony and Theodosius of the Kyiv Caves and other Kyiv Caves saints¹; the house's own site calls this second church wooden as well⁵, while the eparchy's account calls it of stone². It also built a house for the superior, a residential block for the brethren and a building for pilgrims, and the brethren themselves built a cellar, a garage and a woodshed¹.

The monastery now owns four hectares of land, used for the brethren's needs, keeps a subsidiary farm, and its grounds are enclosed by a stone wall¹.

The monastery's church holds an icon of the Vilnius martyrs Anthony, John and Eustathius with particles of their relics, and an ark with particles of the relics of the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves¹.

In 2016 the ruling bishop consecrated a renewed altar table in the monastery's church in honour of All the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves¹.
