St. Anne's Convent

The convent in honour of Saint Righteous Anne stands in Slavuta in the Khmelnytskyi region and belongs to the Shepetivka eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church⁸. The house is dedicated to Saint Righteous Anne, the mother of the Most Holy Theotokos⁴.

The monastery and the church of Saint Righteous Anne were laid down in 1999³. The opening of the convent in honour of Saint Righteous Anne in Slavuta, in the Slavutskyi district, was blessed by the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at its session of 22 January 2001, by journal No. 1, on the report of Archbishop Antonii of Khmelnytskyi and Shepetivka¹.

The official opening took place in 2001: by that time the house had a block of cells and an almost finished church³. On 24 April 2001 the monastery was entered in the Unified State Register as a separate legal entity⁸.

On 31 May 2007 the Holy Synod, by journal No. 59, separated a distinct Shepetivka eparchy from the Khmelnytskyi eparchy, assigned the Slavutskyi district to it and ruled that its ruling bishop should bear the title of Shepetivka and Slavuta².

In 2003 the church was consecrated, and by 2011 the building of a new block with a house church had been begun in the convent³. On 11 August 2023 a church in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker was consecrated in the monastery; the rite of consecration was led by Metropolitan Yevsevii of Shepetivka and Slavuta⁵.

On 9 July 2017, when a jubilee cross procession with a copy of the Sviatohirsk icon of the Mother of God passed through the Shepetivka eparchy, the shrine was met in Slavuta and a night Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the convent of Saint Righteous Anne⁶.

On 11 January 2016 Archbishop Panteleimon of Shepetivka and Slavuta celebrated a festal vespers in the house and blessed the beginning of the traditional evening of monastery carols, in which the pupils of the Sunday school and the choir of the sisters of the house took part⁷.
