St. Sergius of Radonezh's Convent

St. Sergius of Radonezh's Convent is a women's monastery of the Hust Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The community stands in the Obchyna tract by the village of Hrusheve in the Tyachiv district of Zakarpattya^{1, 2}. The diocesan register of monasteries enters it as the Hrusheve women's monastery of St. Sergius's Pustyn².

The community's own account dates its founding to 2000³. Its formal opening came the following year: on 29 August 2001 the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, by journal No. 21 and on the report of the Bishop of Hust and Vynohradiv, blessed the opening of the male monastery of St. Sergius's Pustyn in the Obchyna tract⁴. The church dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh was consecrated at the community on 8 October 2002, while the monastery was still a male one³.

The next change touched the standing of the house itself: on 28 December 2004 the Holy Synod, by journal No. 39, blessed the conversion of the male monastery of St. Sergius's Pustyn into a women's one⁵. It is in that standing that the community appears in the diocesan register of women's monasteries².

As of 2012, besides the church of St. Sergius of Radonezh, the community also had a church of St. Xenia of St. Petersburg and a chapel of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross³. A spring of the Holy Archangel Michael is venerated at the monastery³. Among the community's holy things are a copy of the Vladimir icon of the Most Holy Theotokos and an image of St. Sergius of Radonezh with a particle of his relics⁶.

On 6 June 2014, on the commemoration of Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg, the ruling bishop of the Hust Diocese celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Sergius's Pustyn; despite the remoteness of the place many pilgrims gathered for the service, and after the liturgy a cross procession went round the church with the reading of the Gospel⁷. Hierarchical services were held here also on 6 June 2018, with the clergy of the Hust Diocese concelebrating⁸, and on 30 July of the same year⁹.
