St. Stephen's Monastery

St. Stephen's Monastery stands in Kraynykovo Village, in the Khust district of Zakarpattya region, and belongs to the Hust Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Construction of the monastery began in the 1990s¹.

Today the monastery has a church in honour of the Holy Apostle, Protomartyr and Archdeacon Stephen, a chapel of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, residential and utility buildings, and a bell tower under construction¹. Among the monastery's shrines are a venerated icon of the Holy Apostle, Protomartyr and Archdeacon Stephen and fragments of the relics of various saints². The monastery keeps two patronal feasts in honour of its heavenly patron³.

On 15 August 2021 Metropolitan Mark of Hust and Vynohradiv led a festal Divine Liturgy at the monastery, concelebrated by the vicar bishop of the Hust Diocese, Bishop Symeon of Uholka⁴.

On 30 December 2023 Metropolitan Mark led a Liturgy at the monastery during which deacon Vasyl Dyda was ordained to the priesthood; after the service the archpastor consecrated a chapel in honour of the Nativity of Christ⁵.

On Sundays and feast days matins is celebrated here at 7.00 and the Liturgy at 10.00, with vespers at 18.00; on weekdays the Liturgy is at 8.30 and vespers at 17.00⁶.
