History:

The Holy Trinity parish of the Holosiivske deanery of the capital serves in the church at 4 Zhylianska Street in Kyiv1, 2; on its own site the community signs itself as the Holy Trinity Church of the UOC1, and the patronal feast is kept here on the Day of the Holy Trinity2. The cultural and enlightenment centre "Troitskyi", with its Orthodox school, works at the church: in 2015, by a decree of the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the centre was placed under the patronage of the UOC Synodal Youth Department1, 6.

On the church that stood here earlier, the official publications of the UOC Information and Enlightenment Department do not agree. The publication of 2021 and the parish itself, in its own report of 2011, speak of a church destroyed in 19313, 5. A survey of Kyiv's destroyed churches, issued by the same department in 2018, describes at the corner of Zhylianska and Velyka Vasylkivska streets a wooden church moved in 1858 to the Lybid part of the city, and a second church that remained unfinished and was dismantled for its bricks at the end of the 1920s; the wooden church itself, by that account, was taken down by the military in one night in 19634.

The church reproduces a pre-revolutionary design3. A plot of 0.38 hectares for a centre with a church in honour of the Holy Trinity was allotted by the Kyiv City Council in July 2011, and on 25 September of the same year the first Divine Liturgy was served on the site of the destroyed church3, 5. In June 2021, while the building work was going on, the rite of consecration of the cupola crosses for the church was led by the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine; the publication that reported it calls it the Holy Trinity Cathedral3.

The week of services here is set out in advance: the community keeps the current schedule of services on its own site, day by day; besides the ordinary round of services it carries a moleben with the akathist to the Most Holy Trinity and an evening service with the akathist before the icon of the Mother of God "Quick to Hearken"7. The church broadcasts its services on a channel of its own, opened on 5 April 20208; the link to it stands in the footer of every page of the community's site9. The channel carries both daily services - the morning one and the late afternoon one - day after day, in full and unedited, and most of the recordings run from one to three hours8.
