Flor’s Ascension Convent in Kyiv, one of the oldest functioning women’s monasteries in the Ukrainian capital, is named after the martyrs Florus and Laurus.
On their feast day, 31 August 2026, the Divine Liturgy in the convent’s main church was led by the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, and during the service the rite of glorification among the saints of the blessed Olha, a fool for Christ, was performed. Both the Information and Education Department of the UOC and the website of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra reported the service.
According to the Information and Education Department, a final memorial litiya for the blessed Olha was served before the rite, after which Metropolitan Klyment of Nizhyn and Pryluky read out the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC on her local glorification. The same report states that the Synod approved the icon of the saint and the texts of her service and akathist, and set her commemoration for 16 / 29 October, the day of her repose.
The department also reports that the Primate was joined by Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, Metropolitan Klyment of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Metropolitan Ioasaf of Vasylkiv, Archbishop Spyrydon of Dobropillia and Archbishop Mark of Borodianka, and that the sisters of the community prayed at the service with their superior, Abbess Yevlampiia. The Lavra’s website describes Metropolitan Pavel as head of the Synodal Commission for Monastery Affairs of the UOC.
The life of the saint published by the same department states that the blessed Olha (1887–1971) came from a noble family and was brought to the Florivsky monastery in 1905, at the age of eighteen, with the blessing of the Glinsk elders. She remained there for more than sixty years, concealing her spiritual life beneath the appearance of folly. She died on 29 October 1971 and was buried in the Zvirynets cemetery in Kyiv.
