Two legal persons bearing the Lavra’s name: what the state register records
The Unified State Register lists two different religious organisations whose names contain the words “Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra”: they have different registration codes, different addresses on Lavrska Street and different heads.

Under registration code 14351528 the register records the religious organisation “Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (male monastery) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”, at 15 Lavrska Street, building 42. This is the Kyiv Holy Dormition Caves Lavra of our directory and the owner of this site; the superior of the house recorded in the Synodal Commission’s directory is Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl.

Under code 45081205 the register records a different organisation — “Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (male monastery) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church of Ukraine)” — registered on 2 December 2022 at 14 Lavrska Street. It is a separate legal person with a separate head.

On 16 July 2026 the Church’s information service reported a further change of head of that second organisation. We opened the registration data ourselves: the change history records at least two changes of head — one on 18 July 2025 and another after which, as at 4 September 2026, the head recorded is the same person who led the organisation before July 2025. We give no names.

Which of the two organisations is the monastery of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra remains in dispute. What the register establishes is only that these are two separate legal persons at two different addresses.
