Odesa Eparchy

The Odesa eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church runs a site of its own, which calls itself "Orthodox Odesa"¹. The link to its video channel stands right in the header of that site, beside its other pages¹.

The channel was opened on 5 May 2016, and over the years more than six thousand recordings have gathered on it². The backbone is the live broadcasting of services: more than seven hundred of them are gathered in a year, about two a day². They fall thickest on Sunday - almost every fifth recording².

Apart from the broadcasts the eparchy issues a weekly programme of its own, "TEO", a survey of the church week, and it comes out at once in two languages, Ukrainian and Russian, in almost equal numbers of issues². The numbering of the programme passed eight hundred issues long ago and grows week by week, without a gap².

The eparchy films more than one church: services appear on the channel from the Transfiguration and the Holy Trinity cathedrals, from the Dormition and the Protection men's monasteries, from parish churches of Odesa and of the Izmail area, and from the Odesa Theological Seminary². Beyond the services and "TEO" the channel shows prayers, the reading of the Creed, magnifications and processions, and the eparchy has laid out its video archive in more than three dozen thematic collections². The eparchy also keeps a telephone helpline of its own: it publishes the same number both on its site and in the descriptions of its videos^{1, 2}.
