Church of the Nativity of Christ (Kyiv)

The Church of the Nativity of Christ stands at 5 Obolonska Embankment, in the Obolon district of Kyiv². The community calls itself a church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - every page of its site ends with that line¹.

The parish site is arranged as a parish handbook: the history of the church, the schedule of services, the shrines, the clergy, the Sunday school, pilgrimage and a panorama of the church, and beside them a form through which one can put a question to a priest¹. Mutual aid has a section of its own: there parishioners ask for help and offer it - for treatment, with housing, with the care of an elderly person¹. The entries build into a monthly archive that reaches many years back¹.

The community broadcasts its services on a video channel of its own, opened on 11 January 2013³. The recordings keep to a weekly round: the Saturday all-night vigil and the Sunday Liturgy, while every great feast of the church year gets a pair of broadcasts of its own - from the Transfiguration and the Dormition to the Nativity of Christ, the Annunciation, Pascha, the Ascension and Pentecost³. The services go out whole, unedited, and usually last from two to three and a half hours; the Paschal night service ran for more than four hours³. Memorial Saturdays the channel gives as a Liturgy on its own, without an evening pair³.

The channel keeps more than the services alone. The feast of St Nicholas in the parish Sunday school the community filmed as a separate feature and set it straight into its own site - this is how the parish shows at home what it films for the channel^{1, 3}.
