Church of St. Spyridon (Kyiv)

The parish of St Spyridon of Trimythous is a Kyiv community in the Sviatoshyn district; its church stands on Lesia Kurbasa Avenue¹. In its own documents the community appears under the full name "Religious community of the parish in honour of St Spyridon of Trimythous in the Sviatoshyn district of the city of Kyiv"¹. To the church's heavenly patron the parish has given a separate section of its website¹.

The liturgical month here is set out in advance: every month the community's site publishes the schedule of services for the whole month ahead, day by day, with the hours of the services and the feasts marked². Beyond the ordinary round of services the parish keeps a separate akathist to its patron, and for Great Lent it moves that akathist from Wednesday to Thursday, because Wednesday is taken by the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts¹. From time to time a separate Liturgy for children is served in the church: at it, as the parish itself notes, the pupils of the Sunday school traditionally sing and serve at the altar¹.

The community does not stop at worship. Every Sunday at 12:30 charitable dinners for the poor and those of small means are held at the church - the parish holds them as a standing work¹. A Sunday school with a website of its own operates at the church, and the community itself keeps a section of its own publications¹.

The parish broadcasts its services on its own video channel, opened on 29 July 2015³; the link to it stands in the top line of every page of the site, under the word "Services"¹. The recordings gathered on the channel keep to a fixed weekly round - the Saturday evening service and the Sunday Liturgy of St John Chrysostom - and between them stand the services of the church year: the Annunciation, the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, the full sequence of Holy Week, Pascha, the Ascension, Pentecost, the Nativity of John the Baptist³. Besides the services themselves, the channel keeps sermons and performances by the pupils of the Sunday school³.
